What is a Secured Visa?
A “secured” card means that you have set aside money in an account ready to pay the card. The money is called a Security Deposit. FECA holds the funds in a separate savings account, but this money doesn’t cover your monthly payments. These funds only allow you to open the account and act as collateral if you default on payments. The deposit is refundable if you close the account or move to an unsecured card.
The FECA Secured Visa can be a great option for those trying to build or rebuild credit. It gives you experience in using a credit card, can help build credit and increase your credit score, and can help you move to a different card with a higher limit.
Payment history is the most important factor in your credit score. This makes it important to pay your Secured Visa bill in full and on time each month. Late payments, missed payments, and exceeding your credit limit can harm your credit. If you consistently make on-time payments with your FECA Secured Visa card, positive information will be reported to the credit bureaus, which helps you build credit.

Your final rate is based on an evaluation of credit history, so your rate may differ from what is shown. Not all applicants will qualify for the lowest rate. For details visit our Disclosures.
