What is a Share Certificate?

A Share Certificate is a savings account that lets you earn a higher dividend in exchange for a guarantee that the money won’t be withdrawn for a pre-determined term. Put simply, if you promise to leave the funds alone, we’ll give you more money for letting us hold it.

What’s the difference between a Share Certificate and a CD (Certificate of Deposit)?

Share Certificates and CDs (Certificates of Deposits), work similarly for you. Share Certificates are offered by Credit Unions while CDs are offered by for-profit banks. They are both longer-term savings options.

Are Share Certificates insured?

A Share Certificate is fundamentally a type of savings account and so they are protected against loss by NCUA and ESI at the FedEx Employees Credit Association.

Closing Share Certificate early will result in forfeiting all accrued dividends (earned interest).
