How are deposited checks protected by fraud?

Mobile Check Deposits is only offered through the FECA mobile app. The app requires you to provide the username and password each time you sign in. Each item to deposit must be endorsed with the signature of the payee, just like when depositing a normal check. The approval process includes the same review of each deposited item and automatically detects duplicate deposits within 24 hours of submission.

When will the deposited funds be available?

Typically, within 3 business days. The funds are made available one or two days after being verified. Business checks, cashier’s checks, and government checks are typically deposited sooner as they can be easier to verify.

How long should I keep the original check?

For your protection, retain the original check for at least 5 days AFTER receiving confirmation that it has been accepted. When you are ready to discard it, mark it “VOID” and dispose of it in a way that prevents someone from attempting to deposit it again.

Are there limits to how much I can deposit?

There is a $3,000 limit per day and $6,000 per month. There is also a limit of 2 deposits per day with 60 deposits per month maximum. You may request to raise the limits temporarily by leaving a message within the app.

How do I enroll in Mobile Check Deposit?

Within the FECA mobile app, simply click the Deposit button. Follow the registration prompts. That’s it! You’ll be able to make your first deposit immediately. Download the FECA mobile app to get started.

Can a deposit mobile check be denied?

It is possible because every check is verified during processing. This happens when we attempt to collect the funds but can’t do so from the other institution. Checks can be rejected for other reasons, too, including unreadable or invalid account and routing numbers, improper formatting, a missing or invalid signature, or there was too much time since the check was written.
